New InScope-AML REQ 2026 Features for Maltese Subject Persons

With the next REQ reporting cycle approaching, we’ve rolled out several improvements to InScope-AML to help Maltese Subject Persons prepare their submissions more easily.

This update introduces new reporting templates, better documentation capabilities, and a new export function, helping compliance teams compile, review and organise their REQ data more efficiently

Built for the evolving REQ framework

Following updates to the FIAU’s REQ requirements in recent reporting cycles, InScope-AML has expanded and refined its reporting wizard to better reflect the structure and complexity of the official templates.

InScope-AML’s REQ functionality enables subject persons to:

• • Select their applicable Subject Person licence related reporting category
  • Generate client reporting data based on specific business units
  • Configure reporting parameters in line with their internal methodologies
  • Extract both summary values and underlying data supporting each response

The REQ reporting feature mirrors the FIAU’s published questionnaires and allows firms to review, validate and prepare their submission data before inputting final values into the FIAU’s CASPAR portal.

What’s new for REQ 2026

1. Comment functionality for every question

One of the most requested enhancements from clients has now been introduced: the ability to add structured comments to individual REQ responses.

This allows subject persons to:

• Justify deviations between InScope-AML-generated values and final figures submitted in CASPAR
• Record contextual explanations where professional judgement has been applied
• Document data from alternative data sources where applicable
• Maintain a clear internal audit trail

2. New REQ Templates added

To support an expanding client base, InScope-AML has introduced two additional REQ templates for the 2026 reporting cycle:

• Investment Services</strong
• Credit Institutions

These templates align with the specific question sets published by the FIAU for those licence categories, ensuring relevant Subject Persons can generate structured reporting data directly within InScope-AML.

In addition to these new templates, InScope-AML already supports REQ reporting for:

• Company Service Providers (Individuals & Legal Firms)
• Trustees & Fiduciaries
• Accountancy & Audit (Individuals & Legal Firms)
• Advocates (Individuals & Legal Firms)
• Tax Advisors (Individuals & Legal Firms)

Together, this comprehensive template coverage ensures that a wide range of Maltese Subject Persons can prepare structured, licence-specific REQ reporting within a controlled and defensible data environment.

This continued expansion reflects InScope-AML’s commitment to supporting Malta’s regulated sectors as REQ requirements evolve.

3. One-click “Export All” to Excel

REQ preparation often involves review, collaboration and internal sign-off before submission. InScope-AML now includes a one-click “Export All” function.

With a single export, firms can generate an Excel file containing:

• The database reported on and which REQ template used
• Total number of questions answered
• Question-by-question breakdown separated in every sheet containing:
  • The REQ question and any related notes
  • Underlying client/entity data
  • Recorded comments (if any)

This enables compliance teams to:

• Circulate full REQ reporting packs internally
• Retain comprehensive records for audit purposes
• Demonstrate the underlying data behind reported figures

The export feature significantly reduces manual collation and supports structured review before final submission.

4. Updated high-risk country lists

In line with annual FATF and EU Commission updates, InScope-AML has refreshed the high-risk country lists incorporated into the REQ logic for 2026.

This ensures reporting remains aligned with the latest regulatory expectations without requiring manual configuration by clients.

Supporting defensible REQ submissions

While REQ submissions are ultimately completed through the FIAU’s CASPAR portal, InScope-AML provides the structured data environment that allows subject persons to:

• Generate counts directly from their client data stored
• Drill down into underlying records
• Export supporting evidence
• Maintain documentation of reporting rationale

The result is a more controlled, reviewable and auditable REQ preparation process.

A significant internal effort for client readiness

The REQ templates contain hundreds of structured questions across different Subject Person licence categories. Each year, InScope-AML reviews and aligns its logic with the FIAU’s published documentation to ensure accuracy and relevance. However, clients may still adjust the reporting parameters for each question if they have a different understanding of the question.

The REQ 2026 release reflects extensive configuration, testing and template mapping to ensure subject persons can approach this year’s submission period with greater confidence.

The enhanced REQ 2026 functionality is available to all Maltese InScope-AML clients whose licence categories require REQ submission.
